WORLD MOSQUITO DAY (August 20th)

World Mosquito Day — August 20
World Mosquito Day raises awareness about mosquito-borne diseases such as malaria, dengue, Zika, yellow fever, and chikungunya. Observed each year on August 20, the day commemorates Sir Ronald Ross’s 1897 discovery that female Anopheles mosquitoes transmit malaria. It also highlights the importance of mosquito control, preventing bites, advancing research, and protecting communities from mosquito-borne disease.
